3rd Automotive Seminar - “SMC on the Road to Innovation”,
13-14 November 2002, Cambrai/Lieu Saint Amand, France.

The 3rd Automotive Seminar has been held in cooperation with PSA-Sevelnord, in Cambrai, France. Experts from the SMC/BMC industry and raw material suppliers met with professionals from the car and truck industry. Speakers from DaimlerChrysler, MAN, Renault and from DSM Composite Resins, Byk-ChemiePeguformLonza Compounds,

Citroen C8

Peugeot 807 and sisters Citroen C8, Fiat Ulysse, Lancia Phaedra are engineered by PSA and produced in its Valenciennes/Lieu Saint Amand plant. Tailgate and front fenders are made of SMC.

Menzolit-Fibron, Ashland and the SMC-Alliance informed about the latest developments in SMC car and truck application. The seminar comprised a plant tour at PSA (production of the PSA-, Citroen-, Fiat- and Lancia-Minivan with SMC tailgate and SMC front fenders) and was a successful continuation of two other very successful seminars hosted earlier by DaimlerChrysler and Jaguar.

The place were 85 experts got together is a 19th century chateau being built in the Greek revival style by the famous architect Jaques-Ignace (Jakob Ignaz) Hittorff. This remarkable man was born in Cologne (1792) as a French citizen, he went to Paris, studied architecture and became a well respected, extremely successful French architect (design of Place de la Concorde, embellishment of the Champs-Elysées, Gare du Nord, Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, Winter Circus etc.).
