Two very interesting days at the foothills of the Black Forest! Over 500 composite experts traveled to splendid Baden-Baden to get together, have interesting discussions and listen to some 40 lectures. Uwe Bueltjer, Managing Director of AVK-TV, was happy to welcome quite as many participants as last year. SMC-Alliance was present with a small information booth.

Two lectures should be noted: Michael Sommer of Byk-Chemie reported on “Applications of SMC/BMC in Automotive”, with numerous images of cars and trucks - some of the US trucks looking quite peculiar (design freedom!!). Neil Brown of Martinswerk spoke about “Fire Safe GRP in Railway Rolling Stock”. SMC, using hydrated alumina as fire retardent agent, passes extremely critical specs of London Underground. - All papers available from AVK-TV.

Most participants were satiesfied with the content of the conference. A few said, there must be more SMC/BMC [sure!]. Many said, there should be many more participants [right!]. Everybody was in complete agreement: the Branch Meeting at illustrious Baden-Baden Kurhaus was the summit [there’s no doubt about it!].
