Space frame concept with SMC body panels

Front fenders, rear fenders, roof, roof extensions, upper quarter panel, side rails, doors (outer), hatchback (3 parts) are class A SMC.

Sunroof frame and under the bonnet parts are non class A SMC.

- 100 cars a day anticipated
- platform used for the Espace
- hybrid structure: steel, aluminium, SMC
- 90 kg of SMC per car
- 15% less weight than equivalent body in steel
- thermal coefficient same as steel
- painting 90°C online (few off-line)
- easy distinguish from other cars
- meets high safety/crash demands
